Our top tips on managing your prescription during Coronavirus

During this time, we know that managing your prescription isn’t always easy. At LloydsPharmacy as always, our number one priority is the wellbeing of our colleagues, customers and patients. Although these latest rule changes do mean that safety measures like social distancing and mask wearing are no longer required, we believe it’s still important that we retain some elements of these practices to ensure colleagues are protected.
Our colleagues will continue to wear masks and masks for our customers and patients is a personal choice and but mandatory within our consultation rooms.
We’ve made some changes to how we operate to keep you and our colleagues safe. So, here are our top tips to make managing your prescription a little easier during this time.
Top tips for managing your prescription
- Make sure you order your prescription in plenty of time, don’t wait until the last minute or when you’re running out of your medicines before you order recommend around a week before you are due to run out
- You could give your mobile number to our health care teams so they can text you when your prescription is ready. This will save you waiting while they prepare it in pharmacy
- Sign up to our online prescription service LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy, and get your prescription delivered directly to your home. It’s best to register at least 2 weeks before you need your prescription.

At LloydsDirect, we will work with your NHS GP to take care of your repeat prescriptions. Once you’ve signed up, all you need to do is request your prescription using the app or website and our team of pharmacists will dispense your medication.
- We can then deliver it to you for FREE. For most medication we can post it through your letterbox.
- You can also manage medication for your family, friend or someone you are caring for including children under 16.
Simply register at lloydsdirect.co.uk or download the app from the Apple app store or Android store. Then nominate LloydsDirect as your pharmacy during registration online or using the app. Then request your medication, which LloydsDirect will then confirm with your GP and dispense once the GP has issued the prescription.
Collecting prescriptions on behalf of friends and family
If someone you know if self-isolating, you may need to collect their prescription.
We’ve got some top tips to make the process as smooth as possible:
- The NHS electronic prescription service means prescriptions can be sent electronically to any pharmacy of your choice, so make sure you attend the right pharmacy.
- Make sure you know the full name and address of the person you’re collecting a prescription for. You might find it helpful to know which medicine you are coming to collect.
- If the person you are collecting a prescription for usually pays for their prescription, make sure you have the money to pay for it. If they don’t pay for their prescription, make sure you know why they are exempt as you will be asked to confirm it.
- For some medication, you are required to show identification, so make sure you bring some form of I.D with you. This could be a driver’s license or passport for example.
