How to use Bio-Oil® Skincare Oil?
Apply a few drops of Bio-Oil® Skincare Oil to your fingers or directly to the skin.
Massage in a circular motion until fully absorbed. Apply twice a day for three or more months for best results.
Throughout pregnancy, apply twice daily from the first trimester, to help reduce the possibility of pregnancy stretch marks forming.

How do I use Bio-Oil®?
Bio-Oil® should be massaged into the skin on your face and body in circular motions until it is fully absorbed. You should apply the oil twice a day, this can be before bed, when you’re getting ready in the morning or whenever suits you.
For best results it is recommended that you use Bio-Oil® for a minimum of three months, however, please bear in mind that results will vary. You can start to use Bio-Oil®on scars as soon as they are healed, the skin should not be broken or have an open wound.
Is Bio-Oil® tested on animals?
No, Bio-Oil® is not tested on animals. Bio-Oil® Skincare Oil and Bio-Oil Natural Skincare Oil® also contains no animal-derived ingredients, making it suitable for vegans.
Can Bio-Oil® be used for acne?
Acne and spot prone skin is as individual as the person experiencing it, it is recommended that you seek professional advice when it comes to acne treatment. However, Bio-Oil® can be used on acne scars once they have healed and the acne is no longer active, as it can help to improve the appearance of scars.
In independent testing, Bio-Oil® has been proven to not cause spots, break outs or acne, due to it being non-comedogenic and a ‘dry oil’. The oil rapidly absorbs into the skin on your face and body without leaving a greasy residue, so it can be used on oily skin. Just remember that when it comes to application, less is more.
Can I use Bio-Oil® for pregnancy stretch marks?
Yes, Bio-Oil® is safe to use before, during and after your pregnancy. Bio-Oil® can be used when you’re breastfeeding too, however even though it is safe it is recommended that you do not apply the oil to your nipples.
The levels of vitamin A in Bio-Oil® are low enough to not affect your unborn child, however if you are concerned, please talk to your healthcare professional.
Bio-Oil® can help with the appearance of stretchmarks that can be seen on the skin during pregnancy, it can be applied as soon as new stretchmarks appear. Bio-Oil® works best on older stretch marks and should be used for a minimum of three months.
Does Bio-Oil® help eczema?
Although Bio-Oil® can relieve dry, dehydrated, red and itchy skin - the symptoms of eczema. It has not been formulated as a treatment for eczema, instead it is a cosmetic product with low levels of fragrance, not a cure.
A pharmacist or healthcare professional will be able to offer advice and check that Bio-Oil® is suitable for you to use if you have eczema or psoriasis. Bio-Oil® can help with scars caused by eczema, but it can only be used on healed scars, not broken skin or wounds.
Can you use Bio-Oil® on your face?
Yes, Bio-Oil® can be used on your face, including lips to help with facial scarring. For best results use the oil twice a day on healed scarring, a couple of drops should be enough. Simply apply to your face in circular motions until fully absorbed.
Many people like to use the oil at night as part of their overnight skincare routine to lock in moisturise and hydrate skin. You can also use Bio-Oil® as an extra to your moisturiser and other skincare products, although Bio-Oil® is moisturising enough to use on its own. Just remember to apply Bio-Oil® before other products for maximum absorption.
Can I use Bio-Oil® on my tattoo?
Yes, once fully healed you can use Bio-Oil® to moisturise your tattoos as it helps to accelerate skin cell growth. Only use Bio-Oil® if your tattoo is fully healed, there should be no broken skin, scabs, wounds or peeling skin. Bio-Oil® will not fade the colours in your tattoo, and it can be used on tattoos that have scarring. However, you should always speak to your tattoo artist for aftercare and healing advice.
