MyHealthChecked COVID-19 day 2 & day 8 PCR test kit should be ordered before you travel, as it has everything you need to complete day 2 and day 8 testing at home. Complete with downloadable certificates, the test pack offers accurate results within 24-36 hours of the MyHealthChecked lab receiving your sample.

The MyHealthChecked COVID-19 day 2 & day 8 PCR test kit pack is ideal for:

  • Unvaccinated travellers arriving from non-red list countries to be taken on day 2 and day 8 after their arrival
  • Individuals who received the final dose of vaccine less than 14 days prior to arrival in England or Wales
  • Those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine but not through the UK vaccination programme. Make sure to check regulations depending on the country you are travelling from and your vaccination status.

How the MyHealthChecked COVID-19 day 2 & day 8 PCR test kit works.

Before arriving in England or Wales you need to order your MyHealthChecked COVID-19 day 2 & day 8 PCR test kit online.

  • Day 0 -2: arrive in England or Wales. Your Day 2 test kit should have arrived at your destination. Activate your kit online at www.myhealthchecked.com/activate-kit. Take your sample following the enclosed instructions for use leaflet carefully and send your sample back ensuring you post it the same day before 12noon Monday to Friday, in a Royal Mail Priority Postbox, on the same day as sample collection.
  • Day 3 - 4: Continue quarantine. Your Day 2 sample should arrive at the lab on day 3.
  • You will receive your results via email within 24-36 hours from when our lab starts processing. However, you will need to continue to quarantine. If the result is positive, you do not have to take your Day 8 test, but you must quarantine for an additional 10 days.
  • Day 5 - 7: Continue quarantine at home or at your destination hotel.
  • Day 8: Take your Day 8 test and don’t forget to activate your kit and post it back using a Royal Mail Priority Postbox, then continue to quarantine.
  • Day 9: Continue quarantine. Your Day 8 sample should be at the lab today. You will receive the result via email within 24-36 hours. If you get a positive test result from your Day 8 test, you will need to quarantine until day 19. Your household will also need to quarantine until day 19.
  • Day 10: Quarantine ends. If your Day 8 test result is negative, you are free to end quarantine.

How do I post my tests?

  • You must post your sample in a Priority Postbox by midday, Monday-Friday, the same day as taking it.
  • To find your nearest Priority Postbox and collection times, visit www.royalmail.com/services-near-you. Royal Mail aims to deliver within 24 hours, however a small number of cases this may take longer.
  • Royal Mail do not collect mail or deliver to the lab on Sundays or Bank Holidays. Therefore, if you post your sample on a Friday, Royal Mail will aim to deliver it to the lab on a Monday.
  • Please be aware, the delivery time reported by Royal Mail is not necessarily the time we receive the sample in the lab.

When will I get my test results?

You’ll receive an email with a link to view your results online within 24-36 of the lab receiving your sample. You’ll also be able to download your day 2 and day 8 certificates online at www.myhealthchecked.com.

It’s your responsibility to work out the day in which you need to take your test, ensuring you consider results are available between 24-36 hours from when the lab starts processing your sample, and not from posting the sample. Please refer to MyHealthChecked’s terms and conditions.

    Each test kit contains:

    • 1 x Sterile CE marked flocked swab
    • 1 x 5.0ml tube containing 1.5ml of PrimeStore MTM inactivation media within a labelled biohazard ShuttlePouch containing an absorbent pad

  • Warnings and cautions

    Please ensure you follow the instructions for use leaflet, enclosed in the sample collection kit, before commencing your sample.

    • Do not use the sample collection kit if any components are missing or damaged, contact us at: care@myhealthchecked.com
    • Do not allow the PrimeStore® MTM media to come into contact with skin, eyes or any external surface.
    • Do not ingest PrimeStore® MTM.
    • If PrimeStore® MTM comes into contact with skin, wash the affected area with soap and water for several minutes, seek medical attention if required.
    • If PrimeStore® MTM comes into contact with eyes, rinse the eye thoroughly with running water whilst protecting the unaffected eye for at least 15 minutes – Seek immediate ophthalmic treatment.
    • If PrimeStore® MTM is ingested, do not induce vomiting, never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person, rinse out mouth and give plenty of water to drink – seek immediate medical attention.
    • If you experience any symptoms after coming into contact with PrimeStore® MTM, seek immediate medical attention.
  • How to use

    Please read all instructions on the enclosed leaflet carefully before collecting your sample.

    How to collect your sample:

    1. Activate your test online at www.myhealthchecked.com/activate-kit before sample collection. Your sample should be collected on the same day as you post it.
    2. Note: if you are helping someone else to collect a swab for testing, please ensure the details completed are for the person whose sample is being returned to the laboratory.
    3. Check that your sample collection kit contains all the items as listed in the instructions for Use leaflet.
    4. Complete your name and date of birth on the biohazard ShuttlePouch and tube of PrimeStore® MTM inactivation media. By recording these details, we will be able to locate your sample using a 2-factor authentication in case of any queries.
    5. Note: Please ensure the details provided match the details registered online (as defined in step 1).
    6. Ensure you post the sample back to the laboratory before 12noon, Monday to Friday, on the same day as sample collection. To find your nearest Priority Postbox and collection times, visit www.royalmail.com/services-near-you. Royal Mail aim to deliver within 24 hours, however a small number of cases this may take longer.
    7. Royal Mail do not collect mail or deliver to our lab on Sundays or Bank Holidays. Therefore, if you post your sample on a Friday, Royal Mail will aim to deliver it to the lab on a Monday.
    8. If you are using an alternative courier service, please check their instructions for sample delivery/collection.
    9. Ensure you have read and understood the Instructions for use before collecting your sample.
    10. Wash your hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. If you do not have access to soap and water, please use hand sanitiser and apply thoroughly.
    11. Check your nose and gently remove any visible mucus with a tissue.
    12. Hold the ShuttlePouch so that you have a clear view of the PrimeStore® MTM tube inside, visually check the white pad behind the tube for any signs of leakage such as discoloration or crystallisation. If there are signs of leakage do not remove the tube from the ShuttlePouch, seal the ShuttlePouch and do not proceed with the sample collection. Place the Shuttlepouch back inside the box, and dispose in your household waste.
    13. Please contact care@myhealthchecked.com immediately and advise them of the barcode number on the damaged tube.
    14. If there are no signs of leakage, remove the tube of PrimeStore® MTM, place on a clean surface and proceed to section 9.
    15. Carefully remove the flocked swab from the packaging ensuring the tip of the swab does not touch any external surfaces.
    16. Gently insert the tip of the swab into your nostril until you feel gentle resistance. Hold the shaft of the swab and rotate 5 times for approximately 10 seconds, ensuring the tip of the swab is always in contact with the nasal wall. Carefully withdraw the swab and repeat this process with the other nostril. Do not force the swab any further up into your nose whilst you are swabbing.
    17. Immediately uncap the tube of PrimeStore® MTM taking care not to spill the contents or touch any external surfaces with the tip of the swab. In the case of a spillage refer to the ‘Warning’ section for guidance.
    18. Insert the swab into the PrimeStore® MTM tube ensuring the tip of the swab is submerged into the solution, then snap the shaft of the swab at the breakpoint.
    19. Re-cap the tube of PrimeStore® MTM and gently invert the tube for 3-5 seconds.
    20. Wash your hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. If you do not have access to soap and water, please use hand sanitiser and apply thoroughly.
    21. Place the tube of PrimeStore® MTM back into the ShuttlePouch following the instructions shown on the front of the pouch. Place the sealed ShuttlePouch back inside the box and close the box.
    22. Adhere the pre-paid postage label to the UN3373 posting bag, place the closed box inside and seal the bag. If you are using an alternative courier service, please follow their instructions for labelling the envelope.
    23. Return your pre-paid UN3373 posting bag to your nearest Royal Mail Priority Postbox on the same day as taking your sample (find your nearest Priority Postbox and collection times by visiting: www.royalmail.com/services-near-you). Please ensure you write down the tracking number on your pre-paid envelope to track online at www.royalmail.com. If you are using an alternative courier service, please follow their instructions for sample delivery/collection.
    24. Please note that your sample will not be viable unless it is received at the laboratory within 7 days of sample collection.

    Pharmacy Medicines delivery

    Pharmacy Medicines will need to be signed for by someone aged 18 or over. If there isn't anyone in who can sign for your order, you can change your delivery date or redirect it to a local parcel shop using the courier's website or app.

    Unfortunately, your order can't be left in a safe place or with a neighbour. The courier will try to deliver three times before they return it to us.

    Purchasing in bulk/high unit volume

    Please note that when purchasing high unit volumes of single lines (10+ units) that delivery promotions are null and void.
    This is as a result of high volume orders not being able to be dispatched via our normal third party fulfilment.
    As a result for any excessive bulk orders of single lines we will be in touch regarding your order to discuss further delivery costs that will be incurred.
