Prescription home delivery and LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy – what’s the difference?

We know prescriptions can be confusing, so we’re here to make getting your medicines simple. Get your medicine delivered to your door, we can help you choose the best option for you. 

If you have regular NHS prescriptions or need a one-off prescription, we can help. We offer two prescription home delivery services, our LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy and Home Delivery Service. Read on to find out which one is right for you.

What is LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy?

LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy is a free, time-saving and helpful way to manage the NHS repeat prescriptions for you or your loved ones. All prepayment certificates and exemptions are accepted. If you do pay for your NHS prescriptions, you pay just the standard charge. Not a penny more.

Our online service LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy lets you order your medicine from your computer, tablet or smartphone. Please note it’s only available for addresses in England.

How does LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy work?

Switching to LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy is easy:

  • Simply tell us who you are
  • The name of your GP surgery
  • What medicine you need

You can easily set up your account online in a few minutes or by downloading the LloydsDirect app.

Once you have registered, you don’t need to contact your GP. We’ll do that for you and obtain your repeat prescription. Once we have that, we can get ready to send out your medicine.

How are my prescriptions delivered?

Your medicine is sent in secure packaging, even medicine that needs to be chilled is safe. Most fit through a standard letterbox, if you know your medicine is unlikely to fit through your letterbox and you won't be in, you can arrange to deliver it to a neighbour or to collect at your local LloydsPharmacy.

How is LloydsDirect different to home delivery?

Each month, to ensure you’re still getting the medications you need, we’ll send you reminders to request your repeat prescriptions as well as notifications to take your medicine. If you no longer need one of your medicines, or if your prescription has changed, you can update your details via your LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy account. You can choose how to receive these reminders, whether on the app or through your online account.

The added benefits of LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy such as delivery notifications and re-ordering reminders are not currently available as part of the in-store Home Delivery Service.

What if I don’t want to use an app to manage my prescriptions?

We understand that not everybody is comfortable using a website or app to manage their prescriptions. If you have a family member or carer who could help you, you can continue to receive your medicine for free.

It’s simple to set up which is why many of our customers are using our Family Medicine Management Service. It’s quick, secure, and completely free to use.


What is your Home Delivery Service?

Our Home Delivery Service is a subscription service which allows our stores to deliver your prescription to your home in England. There is a charge for this delivery service, but we have a number of subscription plans available to suit your budget. When you sign up to a plan, you can rest assured knowing your local LloydsPharmacy will prepare your prescription medication and deliver it direct to your home. Simply sign up in store to get your medicines delivered.

Please note our Home Delivery Service is only available for addresses in England.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on whether you sign up for 6 or 12 months, either as a single customer or for your entire household. There’s also an option for a one-off delivery for £6.

How does Home Delivery Service work?

Signing up to our in-store Home Delivery Subscription Service couldn’t be easier. Just visit or call your local LloydsPharmacy and speak to a member of our healthcare team.

How our service works

  1. Visit or call your local LloydsPharmacy
  2. Choose the subscription plan that suits you
  3. Your local LloydsPharmacy will dispense your prescription medication and arrange for delivery
  4. We will deliver your prescription medication to your home. You’ll need to be in to sign for your prescription.

Can my whole family use this service?

Yes. Our household plans allow all members of the household to benefit from the in-store Home Delivery Service at a cheaper rate.

Can I collect tray medicines?

If you wish to continue to receive your medication organised by days of the week in a tray, without paying for the subscription, please visit your local branch to find out more about store collection. Your tray medicine can be collected from your local store by a family member, neighbour or carer.

Is there an alternative?

Yes, sign up to LloydsDirect by LloydsPharmacy to have your prescription delivered to your home for free. Bear in mind that LloydsDirect will not normally dispense medicine in trays as they have other options to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act, if you need a tray medication then our Home Delivery Service would be best for you.
